But at least it takes a lot less shouting, with figments of his (admittedly limited) imagination.

But for all of his horror and grief and fury, instantaneous upon recognizing him, Abel is not entirely blind. This is Cain, not simply the monster who wears his face in all the rest of Abel's dreams, and his anger fizzles out just as quickly as it came to him.

The realization doesn't stop the dream itself from darkening somewhat, just around the edges, but when he answers, there is only reluctant agreement in his voice. ]

[Compared to usual, this is a boring dream. There's no blood, no sex, no screaming. Jeanette's terribly bored in the delusion of sitting alone at the bar of her club during the day. Why isn't she sleeping? Who knows? Dreams have a funny logic like that.

[Therese dreams of finer things than she has in the waking world; inside her safe little delusion she's back at home, curled up upon the plush couch. She waits for her father to get home, eager to report all the bad things her younger sister has gotten into, and be praised as the better child.
